Contextual Fit - Smith House

Narrative and Idea

The Smith Family would like to expand their house. They hired me to design an addition to the house that met their family values and activities. The Smith’s are a family who love to enjoy nature, soak in the sun, and still have a quiet place to study at home. They asked me to add a sunroom which will help meet those needs. The Smith’s love getting their family time in, in their spacious living room that looks out onto the Long Island Sound. But they also want time to themselves. So the Smith parents’ asked me to also add a private balcony to their Master Bedroom. Their kids like the idea of the sunroom, because it gives them a place to relax. And as for the living room, they spend plenty of time there with their siblings playing all sorts of games and having fun.
